Jo Clubb

Jo Clubb

Born in the South East of England in the late 1980s.

Graduated from Loughborough University with a First Class Honours Degree in Sport and Exercise Science in 2009. Worked as a Sport Scientist for Chelsea Football Club for five and a half seasons, providing support throughout the First Team and Academy. During this time experienced winning the Premier League, Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup, and worked under five different First Team Managers. In December 2014 Jo took on the role of Senior Sport Scientist at Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club.

Jo is currently carrying out a distance learning Masters Degree in High Performance Sport with the Australian Catholic University (ACU) and is also a visiting lecturer for St Mary’s University. Other experiences include England and Wales Cricket Board, England RFU, Australian Institute of Sport, Leicester City FC, Adidas High Performance Centre and McLaren Applied Technologies.

Jo is passionate about the impact science can have on human performance by utilising research and data to support our athletes and the specialists working with them.  In her current role, Jo oversees the collection and analysis of a variety of data using technology that includes GPS, Heart Rate, Body Composition and Force Plate, consequently data management and exploration is a key working area.

Jo’s interests include data , monitoring and manipulating training load, fitness and fatigue testing, performance nutrition, growth and maturation, injury prevention and rehabilitation.

Jo believes finding the balance between art and science in elite sport is one of the greatest challenges facing today’s Sport Scientist!
