Thoughts on this? Looks like Liverpool players have triple sessions to look forward to in preseason!

I think he shows some good insight and awareness of the importance of a pre-season, the fact he suggests that some players may not play in the first week or so of the season in order to expand their pre-season seems like he holds the pre-season as an important component of the whole seasons success.

Who knows with the triple sessions.. Is this a psychological ploy with the players? For them to stay fit and healthy in the off season IN CASE they do three sessions? And what would those sessions consist of? Two mobility sessions and a tactical session perhaps ;)

Seems like he does have or has had some good voices in his ear over the years to add value to pre-season.

I remember Dortmund days when players needed to run for 14 k everyday in the whole preseason and that reflect the way the team play ,,, the season that the team reached the champions league final most of the core players played 65 match that season without too much injuries and fatigues

3 days in, single sessions only so far.
Klopp with his Sports Science degree maybe has a better understanding of training than many?
Output up from 203km under Rodgers to 212km ave
220.6km ave in the season you're talking about at Dortmund, he seems to know what he's doing

Three things to consider here for me: Training requires recover time for adaptations to take effect. Is that possible with sessions so frequently? Also, recent research suggests we needs to avoid spikes in training load. How well was this managed returning from off-season? Finally does increasing volume of training dampen intensity within sessions? It's impossible to judge these things without being familiar with the full programme and 3 sessions a day isn't necessarily bad but these questions are important for me.

Well noted remarks and considerations by the rest users. IMHO, a triple or quadrupled session is better than a 1 long session. If RPE is related more with the duration than the intensity in intermittent sports, then the total RPE session is less. Sharing the load into small fragments could be a tricky solution for the preseason. As many above mentioned, the recovery session (-s) in this scenario might play a more important role. The only obstacle is the footballers' culture who resist on multiple and multistimulus training (perhaps not in the EPL).
